Considering a need for Assistive Technology (AT)

What is AT?

According to ATIA (Assistive Technology Industry Association) "Assistive technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities." Assistive technology ranges from no tech to high tech. No tech could mean identifying an ideal process or outline of operations that makes the most sense for a person's needs. High tech could be full automation of facilities. AT includes the broad range of everything in between.

Who needs AT?

While the field of AT was formed in response to reduce barriers for individuals with disabilities, AT is also helpful to increase productivity and efficiency. The breadth of the field is large so if you are having a difficulty in a task or process, you could use AT.

When is it time for AT?

While assistive technology is helpful for anyone with a disability or having a process difficulty, you don't have to wait until you see a problem or need to engage with AT. An AT evaluation can help find solutions for people with disabilities or someone who is having to work harder than necessary to do the job.. If you are having an issue with completing job duties, or just looking to make things more efficient, AT can help.

Why is AT helpful?

Whether you are a job seeker with a disability looking for work, or a company looking to make your worksite more accessible to employees, AT can help you in your journey. AT helps where there is a disconnect and overcomes barriers. There are billions of pieces of AT, let our trained professionals figure out what is the right match for you.
